Ironman Story - Racing for Uncle Bruce

Experiencing a tragedy will push some people to complete despair. For me it has pushed me to deeply pursue inspiring others in the name of the tragedy. On April 29, my Uncle Bruce Bowman died suddenly and tragically of a brain aneurysm. Bruce was training for his second Ironman Canada. He lived to be two days shy of his 60th birthday.

What do you get when you combine 500 kids, a bit of Canadian history, and triathlon? A little bit of learning, a lot of cheering, and even MORE fun! The most important rule? Every athlete MUST turn around at the finish and cheer the next person to the line... because every finisher is a winner. The races began...

Why You Should Swim in the Ocean
Peter Scott, info@seahiker.com

I was standing on the beach for the 2007 Vancouver Olympic distance triathlon at Second Beach on scenic English Bay. To my left, a pack of triathletes huddled together in the cool morning air. The Importance of Protein for Endurance Athletes
Cliff Harvey, www.humanmotion.ca

The traditional ideology is that we only need about an extra teaspoon per day of protein over the minimum daily requirement for musculo-skeletal remodelling and repair, but there are compelling arguments supporting a higher protein intake for endurance athletes.

Sure, I could have hired an online coach to email me workouts, but...

Katharine Ford, fitnesstablevancouver@gmail.com, former competitive swimmer and Coach, UBC Masters Swim Club

Fitness Table - a highly effective core-strengthening and cross-training method using a table structure - is now available in BC for the first time, and could grow to have studios across BC. For now, our first studio has opened in Vancouver, serving athletes in the lower mainland.  (There are other studios in Calgary and Quebec).
But, what is Fitness Table and how can it benefit triathletes?
