TRIATHLON BC YOUTH & JUNIOR SUPER SERIES, INAUGURAL CHAMPIONS ANNOUNCED

Triathlon BC’s inaugural Youth and Junior Super Series concluded with the Vancouver Triathlon, September 6th.  The premier draft legal series, consisting of four marque events, each hosting super sprint distance triathlons and catering to aspiring performance pathway Youth (14 – 15) and Junior (16 – 19) athletes, kicked off in late May with the North Shore Triathlon, culminating on Labour Day.

CSI-P PODIUM SEARCH VISITS VICTORIA, SEPTEMBER 18

Podium Search is a FREE one-day athlete identification camp designed to test athletes' capacity for sport performance at its highest level.


Taking place in Victoria, each athlete goes through a set of basic physiological tests plus one or two sport-specific tests conducted by world-class sport performance experts in order to find out how they measure up to National Team standards. METRO-VANCOUVER YOUTH & JUNIOR PERFORMANCE STREAM INITIATIVE 

Join Pacific Tri-Works on September 24th, from 1pm at the Creekside Community Centre as they prepare to launch a school triathlon initiative with the goal of growing Vancouver-based youth and junior participation and to provide opportunities for athletes to race provincially, nationally and internationally.

Everyone from the greater Vancouver area with an interest in performance stream training is invited. The session is for young athletes 13-19 years old, their parents, teachers and school athletic coordinators who would like to get involved in the sport of triathlon.  Full details HERE.

Jeff Symonds and Jen Annett, were crowned king and queen of long distance triathlon in Canada on Sunday in Penticton, B.C., capping off a successful week of racing at the inaugural Challenge Penticton – a unique multi-sport event that hosted five national championships over the last week.  Read the full press release HERE.
 
AMERICAS MASTERS GAMES OPENING CEREMONIES ANNOUNCEMENT

Be a part of history as Vancouver welcomes thousands of Masters-aged athletes to the first-ever Americas Masters Games, taking place August 26th to September 4th.  A celebration on Jack Poole Plaza will kick off the Games with the Opening Ceremonies on August 27th. It is free to the public and will begin at 6 pm with a march of thousands of Masters Athletes representing 52 different countries, and will include music, entertainment and speeches from local politicians, representatives from the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), athletes, dignitaries and welcoming remarks from local First Nations elders.  The Games will be officially declared open with a ceremonial lighting of the Cauldron.  Read the full release, click HERE.

PETER REID OFFICIALLY INDUCTED INTO TRIATHLON CANADA HALL OF FAME

Reid, who was officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony during the 2016 ITU Montreal International Triathlon, was one of the most accomplished and respected long distance triathletes in the world. The Montreal-born Reid is a winner of 10 Ironman Triathlons around the globe including three victories at the prestigious Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii (2003, 2000, 1998). He also was also a runner-up in Kona three times (2004, 2002, 1999) during his career that spanned nearly two decades.  Read the full release HERE.

AQUABIKE TO DEBUT AT ITU MULTISPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PENTICTON
 
For the first time ever, Aquabike will be contested at the ITU World Championship next August in
Penticton, at the 2017 ITU Multisport World Championships. A race that combines long distance swimming
and biking, adding Aquabike to the festival lineup offers age group athletes the opportunity to earn another
world title at one World Championship event in the picturesque city of Penticton August 18-27, 2017.

BC SUMMER GAMES BURSARY AWARDED TO TRIATHLON

Sixteen(16) outstanding youth leaders were awarded a Coast Capital Savings Leadership Bursary at the 2016 BC Summer Games. Triathlete Colette Reimer from Victoria was recognized at the Closing Ceremonies of these Games in Abbotsford. Triathlon BC extends a hearty congratulations to Colette!

Triathlon Canada is committed to selecting the highest performing team using clear selection methods, and in accordance with ITU entry criteria. The primary goal is to achieve podium performances. Triathlon Canada also aims to maximize the participation of elite athletes to represent Canada and to support their next steps towards future podium performances. The Champions fund will award $5,000 grants to 20 deserving female athletes or clubs providing the financial support needed to pursue their athletic goals. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Triathlon Canada announced a youthful, yet experienced team of three women and two men who will showcase a new era for triathlon in Canada. DUNCAN TO HOST YOUTH & JUNIOR DRAFT CLINIC - JULY 2

Triathlon BC will be visiting Duncan on July 2 to host a Youth & Junior Draft Clinic.   The clinic will take place at Cycle Therapy Bicycles and will be lead by Coach Steve Lund.  As a former Canadian National Cycling Team and Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team Cycling Coach, Steve has been coaching full time since 1994. Many of Steve's athletes have represented their country at the Olympics, World Championships, Pan American Championships, World Cups and World Master's Championship events with numerous wins and podium finishes.

BC JUNIOR TEAM VISITS MONROE, WASHINGTON 

BC Junior Team members took part in the Monroe Triathlon over the weekend, the third stop in USAT's premiere junior race series. Congratulations to Michael Milic, Martin Sobey and Hamish Babin for sweeping the men's podium, and to Des Ridenour and Hannah Henry, 1st and 2nd, in the women's race!

HOT OFF THE PRESS! AMERICAS MASTERS GAMES RELEASE COURSE

The Sprint distance triathlon will be composed of a one loop 750m swim course, followed by a
one loop 20km bike ride and finished with a one loop 5km run, while the Standard distance triathlon will be composed of a two-loop 1500m swim, a two-loop 40km bike ride and followed by a two-loop 10km run.

Awards will be offered for men and women in the following categories for both the sprint and
standard race; 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-
89, 90+. Age categories for this event will be determined by your age as of December 31st, 2016

ELITE/U23 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - HOW TO REGISTER

Because the 2016 National Championships (Standard distance) is a CAMTRI American Cup (Federation of North, South and Central American countries) it is sanctioned by the International Triathlon Union (ITU). FOUR BC ATHLETES SELECTED TO REPRESENT CANADA AT CAMTRI JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Triathlon Canada confirmed it will send eight junior boys and eight junior girls to take on the top juniors from North, South and Central America.  As part of the 16 person squad, four BC based athletes will make the jump to Des Moines, Iowa, including three BC Games Alumni; Hannah Henry, Des Ridenour, Michael Milic and Saskatchewan transplant, Brennen Smith.

This critical event on the international race calendar will also serve as a selection race for the 2016 ITU Junior World Championships slated for Cozumel, Mexico, September 16. Read the full release HERE.

TRIATHLON BC JOINS FORCES WITH DEVO TO DELIVER INAUGURAL KIDS ENDURANCE CAMP

Recognizing the outstanding work Devo has done with their cycling program, Triathlon BC is joining forces with the esteemed program in delivering the inaugural Endurance Camp, a multi-day sports camp aimed at kids between 10 and 13 years of age.  

With an underlying emphasis on fun, the Camp will introduce kids to three lifetime sports; cycling, running, and swimming, while also focusing on developing an understanding of nutrition, sportsmanship, making safe decisions and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle through sport.  For more on the Camp, and to register, please click HERE.

2017 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING OPPORTUNITIES

In August 2017, the world will descend on Penticton to take part in the inaugural ITU World Multisport Championships. TRAGEDY STRIKES KELOWNA TRIATHLON
 
We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of a 57 year old Saskatchewan athlete participating in the Cherry Blossom Triathlon, in Kelowna, BC, May 1st.  The athlete required medical attention approximately two-thirds of the distance into her swim. First Aid responders mobilized within seconds of witnessing the distressed athlete, and worked diligently to attend to the individual.
 
Our sincere condolences extend to the athlete’s family and friends. 
 
Triathlon BC is working with the Race Director and local authorities to gather details regarding this unfortunate occurrence.  
 
Triathlon BC is committed to providing a safe environment for our athletes and will continue to ensure athlete safety is a priority.

TRIATHLON CANADA AGE GROUP TEAM MANAGER CALL

The Age-Group Team Manager is a leadership position with the overall responsibility of the Event Support Team, including coaches and support personnel. TRIATHLON BC ANNOUNCES POSITION ON DISC BRAKE USE

With the recent news about disc brake use in the professional cycling peloton, and the subsequent ruling by the world governing body or cycling (UCI), Triathlon BC's position on disc brake use in provincially sanctioned events is listed below.

(iv) In Triathlon BC sanctioned races, with the exception of Age Group Provincial Championships and Elite, U23, Junior and Youth Competitions, and races used to select members for Provincial or Canadian Teams, disc brakes are permitted.

AGE GROUP DRAFT LEGAL EQUIPMENT OVERVIEW

As of 2016, sprint triathlon and duathlon age group World Championships will become draft legal events.  What does that mean in terms of equipment? Click HERE to view a summary card of equipment legality.

Both road and time trial bicycles, homologated by the UCI are allowed, but note, all bikes MUST be fitted with standard drop bars only. Clip on bars, and bull moose style bars not not permitted.

Note: athletes from different age categories may draft off each other. Athletes of the opposite gender may not.

RESEARCH STUDY REQUIRES INPUT FROM JUNIOR ATHLETES

A researcher from the University of PEI aims to examine the relationship between negative sport experiences and positive youth development among approximately 100 youth sport participants aged 16-19 years, from different sports and competitive levels. All individuals within this age range will be eligible for inclusion in the study. 515 DAYS TO GO TO 2017 WORLD MULTISPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PENTICTON

The City of Penticton has won a bid to host the first ever ITU Multisport World Championships Festival. The 10-day event, to be held in August 2017, will see 5,000 athletes compete in four separate World Championships: duathlon, aquathlon, cross triathlon and the coveted global title for long-distance triathlon. ADULT LEARN TO DRAFT CLINICS  - DATE SET!

The world governing body, the International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced that, as of 2016, sprint triathlon and duathlon age group World Championships will become draft legal events. The planned changes do not affect standard distance or local, provincial-level competitions. While formal draft legal certification is not required for adults, possessing competent on-bike group riding skills are a prerequisite to a safe and enjoyable experience for all athletes. 2016 YOUTH & JUNIOR DRAFT CERTIFICATION CLINICS CONFIRMED

Performance oriented triathletes between the ages of 13 and 19 looking to earn draft certification in time to compete in Project 2024's Youth and Junior Series can take part in any of the three upcoming Draft Clinics taking place in Victoria, Kelowna or Vancouver.  Succesful participants exhibiting competent bike skills will earn a certificate, allowing them to compete in the draft legal Series! ATHLETE BURSARIES - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS - NOTE - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 14

Triathlon BC continues to recognize outstanding athletes in our sport community. Through two Bursaries aimed at developing triathletes, the Marc Duncan and Mary Leliveld Bursaries offer small financial awards to offset the cost of training and racing.

Mary Leliveld loved amateur athletics. She was a competitive runner, cyclist, triathlete who competed for Canada on the Canadian National Triathlon team at the World Triathlon Championships in 2001, 2003 and 2004. In addition to being a top age group athlete, she inspired others to achieve their dreams through sport.
One of the ways her friends and family hope to honor Mary's life is with a bursary fund. The directive of the Mary Leliveld Fund is to support deserving athletes travel to competitions they otherwise might not be able to participate in. Marc was a troubled teen who was taken under the wing of a BC couple and introduced to triathlon. He became an outstanding junior triathlete who represented Canada at the 1991 World Triathlon Championships in Australia. Tragically, he was killed in a house fire two years later. His coach and mentor, Todd Clark, along with many of his training partners and friends asked Triathlon BC to establish a fund in his name to assist other junior athletes in financial need to meet their sport goals. TRIATHLON FINALISTS RECOGNIZED FOR SPORT BC ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Sport BC, on behalf of the BC sport community, has proudly announced the outstanding amateur athletes, coaches and officials, named as finalists for 14 of the 18 award categories to be presented at the upcoming Athlete of the Year Awards.  Triathlon BC would like to extend a special congratulations to coach Carolyn Murray and athlete Michael Milic for being recognized as finalists on behalf of Triathlon.  Read the full press release HERE.

2015/16 ATHLETE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FUNDING NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Athlete Assistance Program (AAP) is an athlete-centred program offering financial assistance to recognized high performance athletes that have demonstrated the potential and commitment to excellence. The program seeks to relieve the pressures associated with training and competition needs when participating in provincial, national and international sports events.  The AAP awards select athletes with funding between $500 and $3,500 each year.

TRIATHLON CANADA UPDATES ELITE CARD AND MULTISPORT SELECTION CRITERIA

At the end of 2015, Triathlon Canada undertook an extensive examination of the Multisport International Competition Card (ICC) qualification criteria as well as the selection process for the 2016 and 2017 ITU World Championship Elite Multisport teams.   As a result, the Canadian Elite International Competition Card qualifying criteria for Long Course Triathlon, Cross Triathlon, Duathlon, and Sprint Duathlon will be changed for 2017, and will be enforced among all new applicants in 2017 and for existing card holders.  The changes are reflective of current standards accomplished by elite/professional athletes and are aligned with other countries (e.g., Australia and USA).   To review the key changes, please click HERE.

STATEMENT ON CONDUCT OF PROVINCIAL ATHLETE (UPDATE)

Triathlon BC has been made aware of allegations against a provincial athlete’s conduct while participating in sanctioned events in BC.  As a direct result of an extensive review performed by Triathlon Canada's Disciplinary Committee, in addition to a Triathlon BC-led investigation, a sanction has been placed against this athlete.

Effective November 1, 2015, Julie Miller is banned from any event sanctioned by Triathlon Canada and its member organizations for a period of two years.

Triathlon BC unequivocally supports fair and ethical competition, and believes it is a fundamental premise of all sports.  Our Fair Play Policy espouses respect, responsibility and integrity among all participants as its framing statement, and expects all competitors to be honorable in their relationships with other participants. Triathlon BC’s Fair Play Policy can be found on our website.

FUNDING ALERT – NANAIMO TOURISM TO HELP WITH SPORT EVENTS

Tourism Nanaimo is looking to work with community sport organizations to attract visitors to the city and has a budget of $20,000 annually to assist groups hosting sporting events and tournaments.  Grants are primarily intended to support sport organizations hosting smaller-scale events at a local, regional and inter-regional level.

NOTICE OF TRIATHLON BC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, SEPTEMBER 27, 2:00pm

Please be advised, Triathlon BC will host its Annual General Meeting on September 27th, from 2:00pm at Jericho Hill Centre, located at 4196 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver.

Triathlon BC has three (3) Director At Large positions and two (2) Executive positions (Chair and Treasurer) open for election in 2015.  Under Triathlon BC’s Bylaws, candidates vying for Chair must have served at least one year on the Board (in any position).  Interested applicants for the Treasurer position must carry a professional accounting designation. Because of the routine, face-to-face interaction with the Board and various partners in Sport, the successful incumbents for the position of Chair and Treasurer will be required to be Metro Vancouver-based (i.e. available to meet in person, on short notice, on a regular basis).  

If you are interested in running for a Board position, please complete a Nomination Form, including a brief biography outlining both professional and athletic experience, sending it to Triathlon BC before the end of business day, September 14th, 2015.

ONE YEAR TO GO - 2016 PAN AMERICAN MASTERS GAMES
 
With one year to go until the inaugural Americas Masters Games in the City of Vancouver, stakeholders, athletes and organizers celebrated the launch of registration on Wednesday morning. This inclusive sport and social event will offer 27 different sports to athletes over the age of 30 from around the world. Over 10,000 athletes, coaches, spectators and accompanying family & friends are expected to attend the Americas Masters Games, taking place from August 26 to September 4, 2016.  Read the full release HERE.

MASTERS ATHLETE HEART HEALTH TESTS VISIT VICTORIA & KELOWNA

Athletes over 35 years old, involved in recreational sport at a moderate to vigorous intensity level at least 3 times per week, or participate in competitive aerobic-based sports are invited to under go testing to evaluate their cardiovascular health.   The testing will also help to determine the prevalence of atrial fibrillation in the masters athlete, and its association with the intensity of sport and volume of lifetime physical activity.  For more information, including testing dates, please click HERE.

TRIATHLON CANADA CELEBRATES 2015 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES 

On August 1st, Triathlon Canada hosted the 2015 Hall of Fame Dinner in downtown Toronto. Three inductees included Victoria's Lance Watson of LifeSport Coaching, 18-time Ironman winner and Ironman world champion Heather Fuhr and two-time Ironman world champion Lori Bowden, also residing in Victoria.. The event also honoured five community builders including Phillip Adsetts, Julien Hutchinson, and race directors and pioneers Graham and Sue Fraser. Simon Whitfield was awarded the C3 Life Time Award for his work as an athlete and an ambassador for the sport. On behalf of Triathlon BC, a hearty hat tip to all of these individuals.

ATHLETE DEATH AT PROVINCIALLY SANCTIONED EVENT

Triathlon BC is extremely saddened to learn of the death of a Calgary-based athlete who passed away while competing at a provincially sanctioned event. Our deepest condolences are extended to family and friends, and an appreciation of note to the emergency workers that tended to the individual so quickly.

BC SUMMER GAMES DEVELOPMENT DAY - AUGUST 15

Triathlon BC is hosting a BC Summer Games focused development day on August 15 in Abbotsford.  This day will deliver a drafting clinic for athletes, development sessions for coaches and information sessions on the BC Summer Games.   Athletes who successfully complete the drafting clinic will gain draft certification and get a chance to race in the Abbotsford Triathlon F1 Super Sprint Race.  Click HERE for more information and registration details.

With the introduction of the Youth Draft Legal events in 2014, and increased participation in age group events for 16-19 year old athletes, there is increasing potential for rules confusion. PROVINCIAL OFFICIALS COMMUNIQUE

British Columbia is fortunate to have several top level international Officials who will be working international events in 2015, including World Triathlon Series (WTS) events and the Pan Am Games.  At these events (International), where  athletes of the highest caliber compete for Olympic qualifying points, medals and large purses, the application of rules and regulations are firm and comprehensive.  However, at the local level, where most athletes are competing for reasons beyond medals and points, Triathlon BC Officials take a different approach.  Read the full Communique HERE.

WESTERN CANADA GAMES TEAM ANNOUNCED

After nine months, three training camps and two selection events, Triathlon BC has selected six young athletes to represent British Columbia at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games, taking place in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, from August 11th through to the 16th.

BC Team athletes enter the Games on a remarkable run of success, with four of the six selected male and female athletes finishing in the top five, together with an outright win in the relay event at the opening round of Triathlon Canada’s Junior National Series.

NOTE: For those looking to qualifying for the 2016 World Sprint-Distance Triathlon and Duathlon Championships, note these event are draft legal. Individuals competing in the Sprint Distance World Triathlon and Duathlon Championships must have bicycles with road-style drop bars. Aerobars are not permitted. Please read the full equipment release here.

Please remember, in order to qualify, an athletes must be a member of his or her provincial Association before the qualifying event takes place.

CITY OF PENTICTON AWARDED 2017 ITU WORLD MULTISPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS

Penticton gets the first ever ITU Multisport World Championship Festival in 2017, featuring the World Championships for ITU Long Distance triathlon, Duathlon, Aquathlon and Cross Triathlon. A massive, 10-day long festival is planned. Read the full release HERE.

Triathlon BC is working on an initiative to develop youth participation in our sport.  This participation initiative targets projects that encourage youth to lead active and healthy lifestyles through involvement in sport.  Triathlon BC is collaborating with communities around the province to offer clinics and events for youth. TRIATHLON BC ANNOUNCES 2016 ITU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS

VANCOUVER – Triathlon BC is very pleased to announce three ITU World Championship qualifying opportunities over the 2015 race season.  “Working in conjunction with the National sport body, Triathlon Canada, the World Championship qualifying spots will bolster an already robust provincial competition calendar.” said Executive Director, Allan Prazsky.  “These qualifying events allow our provincial athletes to springboard on to the National Age Group Team and compete against the best in the world. It is our sincere hope to add another qualifying event in the very near future.”

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CHILD TAX CREDIT

The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit is designed to address the negative health consequences from declining physical activity among Canadian children, as well as to alleviate the escalating costs when registering children in organized physical activities.  To learn more on how to claim up to $1,000 per child, please click HERE.

KELOWNA SPORT GRANTS

The City of Kelowna recognizes the need for financial aid to support the competition, education and event hosting needs of the Kelowna-based sport community.  In response, the following community sport grants have been established:

Community Sport Delivery Grant supports the staffing needs (i.e. Head Coach, Administrator) of Local Sport Organizations and assist in the delivery of local sport participation and performance initiatives. This grant will fund paid positions to ensure the provision of a wide range of programs and services to athletes, coaches, and volunteers from the grassroots to competitive levels that align with the Canadian Sport For Life (CS4L) Model.

Sport Education Grant supported by the Kelowna 2008 BC Summer Games Legacy Fund, this grant designed to provide financial assistance to local coaches or officials interested in upgrading their training and/or certification beyond introductory levels. The Grant can also be used for local sport organizations to host advanced sport development courses/seminars for local coaches and officials.

Sport Event Grant provides financial support to local community sporting organizations hosting a sporting event in Kelowna. It is intended that this fund will provide the stimulus and seed money to assist non-profit organizations to bid, host, create, market and administer new sports-based events.

Athletic Excellence Grant has been established to assist high performance athletes or teams with the travel-related expenses associated with participating in high-level sporting events such as provincial or national championships

KidSportTM Grant is a community based sport-funding program established in 1993 by Sport BC. KidSport™ provides grants for children ages 6 – 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice.

TRIATHLON CANADA SEEK HEAD COACH FOR NATIONAL PERFORMANCE CENTRE VICTORIA

Triathlon Canada is currently seeking a Head Coach for the newly structured National Performance Centre in Victoria BC, Canada. The Triathlon Canada National Performance Centre provides a high quality Daily Performance Environment (DPE) with the ability to develop Gold Medal Profile pathway athletes into world-class podium athletes. 

The Head Coach will report to Triathlon Canada’s High Performance Director and the Triathlon BC CEO and will lead the daily performance environment, technical direction and operational standards of the National Performance Centre (Victoria) and Triathlon BC Coach and Athlete Development Program within the framework of the Triathlon Canada High Performance Plan.

2015 CROSS TRIATHLON & (ELITE) LONG DISTANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION

Athletes wishing to enter in the Elite, U23 and Junior Divisions at the 2015 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships and the Elite Division at the 2015 Long Distance Triathlon Championships must do so by  January 31st, 2015. Download the application HERE.

TRIATHLON CANADA ANNOUNCES WINTER TRIATHLON NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Embracing the country’s winter roots, Triathlon Canada and Quebec Triathlon are partnering to host the inaugural Canadian S3 Winter Triathlon Championship in Quebec City on Sunday, February 8, 2015.  The 25-kilometre, three-pronged event is sanctioned by the ITU and boasts an $8,000 purse for the top-five men’s and women’s finishers. In addition, the top-three Canadian elite men and women who complete the 5 km snowshoe, 11 km skate, and 9 km cross-country ski course will stand on Canada’s first-ever S3 winter triathlon championship podium. ATHLETE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (AAP) INTAKE NOW OPEN

The Athlete Assistance Program is an athlete-centred program offering financial assistance to recognized high performance athletes that have demonstrated the potential and commitment to excellence. The program seeks to relieve the pressures associated with training and competition needs when participating in provincial, national and international sports events.

2015 PROVINCIAL HOSTING GRANTS NOW OPEN

Race Directors hosting an event in 2015 may be eligible to receive funding assistance.  To be eligible, an event must:

  • Take place in British Columbia
  • Be sanctioned by Triathlon BC;
  • Take place between April 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016

Triathlon BC is very happy to announce that the City of Vancouver will play host to the inaugural Americas Masters Games in 2016, an event that will draw over 7,500 athletes from around the world. 2015 WESTERN CANADA SUMMER GAMES ATHLETE SELECTION CRITERIA

The Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG) Athlete Selection Criteria has been created to ensure the most competitive BC Team, consisting of three (3) male and three (3) female athletes, represents British Columbia in the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games, a Team capable of achieving podium performances in both the individual sprint and team relay events.   It is the BC Team’s objective to place at least one male and one female athlete on the podium in the individual competition, and place each sprint-relay Team on the podium. 2015 WESTERN SUMMER CANADA SUMMER GAMES STAFF CALL

Triathlon BC is looking to identify female candidates for the Manager/Assistant Coach position for the 2015 Western Canada Games. This individual will assist in leading the Triathlon BC Provincial Team to the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games, August 12-16, in Wood Buffalo, Alberta. The successful individual may go on to play an integral role as part of the 2017 Canada Summer Games Team For full details, please click HERE.
