How to Qualify
In order to be eligible to qualify, you must meet the following basic criteria:
- Be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada;
- Be a member in good standing with a Triathlon Provincial Sport Organization (PSO);
- Be a member in good standing with Triathlon Canada (included in annual provincial membership);
- Must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) PRIOR to each Qualification Event.
Results are adjusted to determine appropriate five year age categories based on competitor’s ages as of the World Championship year, December 31, 2020. The age adjusted results will be used to determine the qualified athletes, who will be notified by Triathlon Canada directly.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
An Expression of Interest (EOI) is the mechanism by which athletes confirm their intent to race for and accept an Age Group World Championship spot should they qualify. By expressing intent, results can be matched against a final list of those athletes who want to attend the World Championships, and spots can be “rolled-down”. All athletes looking to compete for a spot must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) prior to each qualification event to be eligible to claim a spot.
The expression of interest landing page for all qualification events can be found in the link below. Registration for each event will open 3 weeks prior to the race date.
Triathlon Canada will administer a $20 fee to submit an EOI which will be treated as a deposit for those who are successful in obtaining a spot. This fee will be deducted from the athlete’s Team Management Fee as part of their official confirmation to the team. The $20 fee will be non-refundable for athletes who are unsuccessful in obtaining a spot. However, the fee may be applied to a charity entry instead. Successful athletes will be notified by Triathlon Canada directly.
