BC’s TOP YOUTH & JUNIOR PREPARE FOR LAUNCH OF 2017 SUPERSERIES
Looking to experience Olympic-style draft legal racing at marque venues around British Columbia? Triathlon BC’s Youth & Junior Super Series is a 3-event super-sprint distance, performance-oriented Series featuring draft-legal racing with professional chip timing, well-marked, closed courses and friendly Triathlon BC-accredited Officials!
The overarching mission of the Provincial Series is to promote draft-legal competition throughout the province, and to develop athletes capable of performing at the BC Summer Games and the Canada Summer Games, before spring-boarding on to the National Series. The provincial Series also provides opportunities for local Race Directors to hone their hosting skills, and serves as a recruitment and identification tool for our coaches.
Athletes participating in each Series event accumulate points based on finishing place, leading to an overall Male and Female Series Champion in each of the two (Junior/Youth) Categories. Series points are awarded as follows:
1st – 25pts, 2nd – 20pts, 3rd – 18pts, 4th – 16 pts, 5th – 14pts, 6th – 12pts, 7th -10pts, 8th – 8pts, 9th – 7pts, 10th – 6pts, 11th – 5pts, 12th – 4 pts, 13th – 3pts, 14th – 2pts, 15th through 20th – 1pt.

The 2017 Series kicks off on the Victoria Day long weekend with the North Shore Triathlon. Always a competitive event, this year’s rendition of the North Shore Triathlon promises to be even speedier, as Juniors from around the province vie for one of only six BC Team spots (3 male/3 female) leading to the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
Round two of the Series opens on the outskirts of Vernon and the shores of the majestic Okanagan Lake. With an open water swim and closed roads, the Paradigm Naturopathic Medicine Kids of Steel Triathlon, June 25th, plays host to both, a Series event, and to the 2017 Provincial Junior Championships.
The final stop in the provincial Series circuit is the Vancouver Triathlon, rounding the Series out on the busy Labour Day weekend, September 4th. What makes the Vancouver Triathlon unique for 2017 is the inclusion of Triathlon Canada’s hot new U26 Series, one of only four inaugural U26 Series events across Canada, pitting emerging athletes under the age of 26 against BC’s top Junior and Youth racers!
