Triathlon BC is thrilled to release the results of the first event in the HP Pathway Virtual Series Championships! With close to 20 submissions from across the province, it was a great kick off to the Series aimed at young up and coming performance pathway athletes. While Youth (14-15) athletes will be recognized provincially (only), Junior and U23 athletes that submitted times for round one will be automatically ranked for their competitiveness within Triathlon Canada’s National Development Series.

ROUND 1 RESULTS HERE

Please note, due to current PHO restrictions in place through to May 25th, Triathlon BC has modified the Whistler Provincial Series testing event, originally scheduled in conjunction with the Canadian Sport Institute assessment and testing camp on the May long weekend.

OPENING UP COMPETITION PATHWAYS TO ALL

Triathlon BC recognizes that opportunities to compete are vital to maintaining motivation, better inform the direction of future training programs, and allow for quantifying gains that are made through routine training. With this in mind, Triathlon BC announces round two of the High Performance Pathway Challenge, with several exciting changes for the next event! Two new categories have been added: the Youth Triathlete (12-15 years of age as of December 31/21) and the introduction of Single Sport athlete submissions!

Youth athletes, aged 12-15, will focus on shorter events that emphasize speed development, and will better help position athletes preparing for the 2022 BC Summer Games.

The Single Sport Athlete category allows any athlete that is not a member of Triathlon BC and is specializing in one sport such as Swimming, Nordic, Speed Skating, Athletics, Soccer etc.to submit a time.  All Single Sport athletes will compete over the same distances as the Youth Triathletes, marking a great opportunity for new, single sport athletes to compare their relative fitness over short distances, and see how they rank among various athletes across the province!

HP PATHWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

As a result of the ongoing pandemic and inability to compete in a traditional form, Triathlon BC will be awarding an HP Pathway Challenge Championship, awarded to the top ranked athletes in each Category. Athletes will be ranked from their best 3 of 4 virtual event submissions. Single Sport and Youth athletes will also be recognized at the Championship with the best placings from 2 of 3 events.

Junior/U23 and Elite will all compete together under the Elite category for each individual event. For the Championships, results and awards will be separated into Junior/ U23 and Elite categories.

This next challenge is scheduled for the May long weekend!! Times and distances must be completed between Friday May 21 – Monday 24th with all submissions due by midnight, May 24th. Athletes wishing to participate must send an expression of interest via email to provincial coach Kelly Guest at kelly@tribc.org by Wednesday May 18th, 2021.
