IMPORTANT NOTICE – BC Junior Championships & Race Series Postponed to September 10th

Dear Partners and Sponsors,

Thank you for your support for this years edition of the Paradigm Naturopathic Kids Triathlon.  We are looking forward to hosting our 5th annual Kids Triathlon and Splash and Dash, as well as the Provincial Youth/Junior Series Race and Junior Provincial Championships.

Unprecedented high water levels and flooding have significantly impacted the areas around Okanagan Lake this spring.  Assessments of our race site, water quality, infrastructure stability, and contingency planning have been ongoing, and at this time unfortunately we must announce that we have made a decision to postpone the event which was to be held on June 24th, 2017 to the fall.

As of this week, some residents who live on Lakeshore Road have been put on evacuation notice, the neighbouring properties have put some road closures in place to safeguard infrastructure, the water has a lot of debris floating just under the surface, and water levels are predicted to continue to rise over the next two weeks.  At this time, it is not predictable, safe, or respectful to area residents dealing with flooding, to host an event at this location.

While this is disappointing, we are happy to announce a new tentative date of September 10th, 2017.    We invite you to join us on September 10th, 2017 for the 5th Annual Paradigm Naturopathic Kids Triathlon, at Kin Beach, Vernon BC, where we will host Triathlon BC Junior Provincial Championships, as well as the third and final race of the Youth & Junior Draft Legal SuperSeries.

If you are currently a registered participant, you are automatically registered for the event on September 10th, and we will keep you apprised of any changes and updates throughout the coming months.  If you are no longer able to attend due to the change in date, please email us at VernonKidsTri@gmail.com so we may issue a roll over or refund, and remove you from the start list.  We anticipate heavy communication volume within the next few weeks, our volunteers will do our best to reply as quickly as we can.

We look forward to seeing you in September, which is truly the best time of year in the Okanagan, as the water is still warm, the days are still light, and we enjoy the peaceful shoulder season.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
