Triathlon BC regards the health, safety and well-being of our member athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers as our highest priority.
On June 10th, under the guidance of the BC Government and viaSport, a Return to Sport plan was approved by the Board of Directors and subsequently, released to our member Clubs and athletes. The comprehensive document is intended to assist with the safe reopening of multisport activities across the province, noting these Guidelines were developed with caution and safety as a primary driver, and can be adapted to accommodate specific environments and training groups. The Guidelines include updated participant agreements, revised waiver forms and a Safety Plan template to help club administrators develop safety plans for their specific return to sport needs.
It is a Provincial Health Office requirement that all Clubs submit their Safety Plan to Triathlon BC, and communicate their plans to all respective club members prior to any formal restart of activities.
Per viaSport recommendations, Triathlon BC will not approve safety plans, but keep them on record in a repository. Completed safety plans can be submitted directly to email@example.com. Failure to submit a Safety Plan can put a Club and/or activity in jeopardy of losing insurance coverage.
In order to provide transparency and assurance to our member participants, Triathlon BC will be posting a list of clubs who have submitted safety plans to the Triathlon BC website. This list will be published on June 23 and will be updated on a regular basis.
