PURPOSE & DESIRED OUTCOME

​The Edmonton development training camp is to offer athletes an opportunity to learn and practice skills related to the Saturday sprint event with lead coach Kevin Clark, head coach of the Edmonton Triathlon Academy and Luc Morin, former World Triathlon development coach.

CAMP FOCUS

The general focus of the swim component will be to practice start, sprint and drafting skills. There will also be an opportunity to preview the swim course on Friday.
Cycling will also preview the race course with attention given to cornering, climbing, and drafting skills along with transition 1 and 2 practice.
The run will work on run technical skills, drills and general race preparations.

DATES – July 18-23

The camp schedule will have morning swim sessions at a 25m pool from Tuesday to Thursday with a Friday open water session. Daily presentations and discussions will also occur in the morning. Afternoon sessions will be the bike and run sessions with a debrief at the end of the training day.

A more detailed daily schedule will be shared closer to the event.

PREREQUISITES

Athletes are required to have their bicycles in good operating condition, swim gear for training (pull buoy, paddles) and a wetsuit in the event of cooler weather.   Athletes should have intermediate to advanced fitness and technical abilities.  Be prepared to learn and to communicate with the coaches and fellow athletes.

REGISTRATION

The camp is offered at no charge but athletes must be members in good standing of their provincial sport organization.

TRAVEL, MEALS AND ACCOMMODATION:

  • Athletes and their chaperones will have access to single rooms at Lister Hall for $76/night + tax. Breakfast and lunch is included. Please complete this form and submit to guest.services@ualberta.ca
  • Parents can book nearby accommodation unless designated as a PSO chaperone.
  • Athletes are responsible for booking their own flights and ground transportation to and from the airport.
