Triathlon BC’s Virtual Performance Series, aimed at keeping young up and coming performance pathway athletes engaged in the absence of competition aligns with Triathlon Canada’s National Development Series and automatically ranks athletes across a number of multisport disciplines.
Due to PHO restrictions, Triathlon BC was forced to modify Round 2 of the Series, whereby in-person, performance on demand testing was originally scheduled in combination with the Canadian Sport Institute assessments. A quick pivot saw athletes from Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the Okanagan compete individually, completing both swim and run time trials.
INTRODUCTION OF SINGLE SPORT ATHLETES
Round 2 of the Performance Series also saw Triathlon BC introduce two new categories; Youth Triathlete (12-15 years of age as of December 31/21) and Single Sport athlete submissions, with reduced distances to welcome new athletes to the sport.
As a result of the ongoing pandemic and inability to compete in a traditional format, Triathlon BC will be awarding a Virtual Performance Series Championship, providing prizing to the top ranked athletes in each Category. Athletes will be ranked from their best 3 of 4 virtual event submissions. Single Sport and Youth athletes will also be recognized at the Championship with the best placings from 2 of 3 events.
Junior and U23 athletes will all compete and be ranked as one category.
- All events must be completed between the dates indicated. Athletes may choose to space out the events in any way they prefer.
- All events must be completed as an individual event and not as a split of another event.
- Athletes must complete all disciplines/distances for their category in the event order to be eligible for ranking and prizes.
- Video links must be provided with each submission – submissions without attached files will not be accepted.
The next event is July 12-18th, stay tuned for event details!!
