Become a Certified Coach Developer!

Coach Developers are the leaders, the role models, and the ambassadors of the National Certified Coaching Program (NCCP). They provide standardized delivery of the NCCP across Canada, both in a sport-specific and in a multi-sport environment. Being evaluated and receiving a certified status demonstrates to other coaches that you meet the NCCP Coach Developer standards and believe in the standardized delivery of coaching excellence.

“As a Learning Facilitator, Coach Evaluator, and Master Coach Developer, I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of becoming certified. Being evaluated as a Coach Developer has allowed me to grow and become aware of areas of improvement.

The evaluation process for Coach Developers brings credibility as a Coach Developer, but more importantly, to the whole NCCP. We are demonstrating a growth mindset which we want to model for our coaches!” – Dave Malowski, a recently certified Basketball MCD, and an Assistant Coach with the Carleton Ravens Women’s Basketball team.

We encourage all coaches in the NCCP to become a certified Coach Developer. The following is a step-by-step process to achieve certified status in each of the three roles: Learning Facilitator (LF), Coach Evaluator (CE), and Master Coach Developer (MCD).

To become a certified Learning Facilitator:

  • You must have delivered at least one workshop on your own and have completed the MED on-line evaluation.
  • You must contact your sport governing organization (NSO, P/TCR or P/TSO) stating that you wish to be evaluated and they will assign an MCD to oversee your certification.
  • The assigned MCD will contact you before your next workshop.
  • The MCD will attend your workshop and evaluate your delivery using the
LF Evaluation Tool. After the workshop, he or she will share their observations in a debrief and establish an action plan of suggested strategies for future development.
  • Upon successful completion, determined by the MCD, you will be certified!
