Cowichan Valley, BC — October 23, 2026 — Human Powered Racing (HPR) is excited to announce the launch of the HPR Youth Triathlon Team in the Cowichan
Valley, offering young athletes aged 6–16 an opportunity to discover the sport of triathlon in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Running from January through June 2027, the program will help youth of all abilities develop their swimming, cycling, and running skills while building fitness, confidence,
and a lifelong appreciation for an active lifestyle. Practices will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The program is designed for both beginners who are curious about triathlon and experienced young athletes looking to develop their skills and prepare for the upcoming
Lumina Orthodontics Vancouver Island Youth Triathlon Series.
Through structured training, skill development, and team activities, HPR aims to create an encouraging environment where young athletes can challenge themselves, build
friendships, and experience the excitement of multisport.
“Our goal is to make triathlon accessible and enjoyable for young people of all abilities,” says Rob Dibden. “We want every athlete to feel welcome, develop confidence, learn
new skills, and have fun while preparing for the upcoming racing season.”
With the 2027 season approaching, the HPR Youth Triathlon Team offers an exciting opportunity for Cowichan Valley youth to get active, connect with other athletes, and
take their first steps—or their next steps—in triathlon.
Youth and families interested in joining the team are encouraged to learn more about the program and get ready for a season of swimming, cycling, running, and fun.
