Triathlon BC’s Local Communities Fund provides flexible grant funding to sport programs supporting Indigenous Peoples across British Columbia.

Funding is available for projects focused on, but not limited to:

  • Delivery of programs focused on fitness, health and the pursuit of physical well-being.
  • Access to multisport related skill development.
  • Community building through land acknowledgement and traditional openings at sanctioned events.
  • Increasing social connections to help foster community engagement through sport.
  • Helping to overcome economic barriers to participate in multisport.
  • Community building through sport.

The Local Communities Grant can also be activated by Indigenous youth that are seeking to relieve some of the financial costs associated with pursuing multisport participation, including event registration, travel, equipment, and coaching expenses.

Guidelines for athletes applying for the Local Community Grant:

  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.
  • Of Indigenous ancestry. References attesting ancestry may be requested.
  • Between 13 and 30 years of age at the time of application.
  • Currently living and training in B.C.
  • For multisport associated expenses taking place through to December 31, 2024.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong history of participation in amateur sport.

Triathlon BC’s total Grant envelope is $10,000, and is intended to support Indigenous-focused, multisport-related community initiatives.

The Local Communities Grant is offered to all Triathlon BC member-lead initiatives.
