Project 2024 Team

Triathlon BC’s Project 2024 Team was developed as a Provincial Team with the goal of increasing each athlete’s ability to gain access to improved racing and training opportunities, while limiting financial investment. With a unified Provincial Team approach, Triathlon BC is better able to help coaches involved with Project 2024 Team athletes bring an increased level of resources, education and best practice to their home Daily Performance Environment (DPE), ultimately bettering Project 2024 athletes and their home clubs.

With a heavy investment from the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, the initiatives within Project 2024 are based on bringing athletes together through the utilization of on-line resources, camps and race projects. Athletes are encouraged to stay in their home DPE with their coaches, and be leaders in fostering a performance culture within their clubs throughout the province.

Affiliated coaches of Project 2024 Team athletes will have access to all projects and initiatives, and be provided with unique opportunities to received Professional Development (ProD) opportunities, allowing for the upkeep of certification. Through this community-centred approach, the sharing of knowledge, resources and best practices can further improve the level of performance of affiliated clubs throughout BC.

PROGRAM FEES

Athletes participating in Project 2024 Team initiatives can provide payments in a lump sum manner, on or before February 1st, 2020 or provide monthly payments over 6 months; $250 monthly installments beginning February 1st, 2020.

The program fees are invested directly into the athlete and their ongoing program. Athletes that do not consume all program costs, less a small administrative fee, will be reimbursed at the end of 2020 triathlon season, represented by the Provincial Championships.

Administrative fees range between 10-30% depending on the level of qualifying criteria met by the athletes’ 2019 performances. Race entry fees, accommodation and ground transfer costs will be targeted for reimbursement. In the event of a remaining balance at the end of the season, the balance will be returned to the athlete if they have fulfilled the requirements of the Project 2024 program as outlined.

Athletes must attend the 2020 BC Junior/U23 Championships in order to receive reimbursement. In the event of an injury or an international triathlon race which conflicts with Provincial championships athlete can apply to be exempt from these criteria, though an official medical note or a confirmed international race start must be provided.
