VICTORIA—Triathlon Canada rolled out a newly-approved strategic plan that will serve as the organization’s comprehensive road map, aimed at driving the growth and success of the sport over the next four years.

“This plan was created with extensive consultation with our provincial and national sport partners and is rooted in the organizations core values of collaboration, courage, integrity and excellence,” said Phil Dunne, chief executive officer, Triathlon Canada. “This plan will serve as our beacon on the road to LA 2028, and it reflects who we are and who we aspire to be – a united community of provincial partners, athletes, coaches, technical officials, race directors and volunteers – all driven by a common purpose, and shared goal.”

The strategic plan focuses the Triathlon Canada’s collective focus on three strategic pillars:

  • elite performance – empowering Canadian athletes/coaches to reach the international podium;
  • development pathways – building a robust, inclusive system that nurtures talent and unlocks potential at every stage of the journey;
  • community foundations – growing a safe, welcoming sport environment where everyone – of every age and ability – feels they belong.

“Whether it is a child or adult testing their limits for fun and fitness at the introductory level of the sport, or our Olympic and Paralympic best chasing performance goals, we believe this new strategic plan recognizes everyone in our community, and will serve as a guide to help us accelerate the growth and development of our sport in all corners of the country,” added Dunne. “Working in lockstep with our provincial partners to achieve our mission, it is our goal to deliver more inspiring medal-winning performances at all levels of the development pathway, while ultimately contributing to a healthier and more active Canada.”
