What follows is a critical update from the Tri Peaks Multisports Club, and the Local Organizing Committee for the North Shore Triathlon.
After more than 35 years at the Ron Andrews Community Recreation Centre, the North Shore Triathlon is pulling up stakes. The last ten years have seen rapidly increasing densification along the Mount Seymour Parkway corridor. And now, a new housing complex directly across the street from Ron Andrews will bring many hundreds of new residents to the area starting next year.
While our event has not changed over the years, the neighborhood certainly has and our
traditional course is no longer viable.
In order to meet our standards, the North Shore Triathlon must be:
- Safe for all ages
- Enjoyable and accessible for all participants
- A good neighbour to the local residents
- Financially sustainable
We are no longer confident we can meet these criteria in our current location and have made the difficult decision to suspend the event for 2026. We would like to thank the District of North
Vancouver and the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission for the amazing support they have both provided over the years.
We are in advanced discussions with the City of North Vancouver about hosting the event in 2027 and look forward to sharing details as soon as they are available. While we regret having
to pause for 2026, we are excited about the opportunity to reimagine the North Shore Triathlon and carry its spirit into a new chapter.
Triathlon BC extends its sincere appreciation to the Tri Peaks Multisport Club and the team of Race Directors for their exceptional commitment to the multisport community. Their dedication has created outstanding participation opportunities and, through their patience and flexibility, has enabled Triathlon BC to deliver class-leading high-performance events that support Western Canada’s podium-bound athletes.
