BC Summer Games
2026 BC Summer Games
Location: Kelowna July 22-26th
Ages: 14–15 (birth years 2011 and 2012)
Every two years the top triathletes from across the province get to experience the BC Summer Games. These Games offer a full slate of events, including an Aquathlon, Duathlon, Triathlon, Relay and F1 Triathlon for youth athletes.
Age Group Note: 2026 games will return to the original 14-15 age group.
Athletes
Catering to performance-oriented young athletes, the BC Summer Games attracts the best athletes from every corner of the province. Taking place over several days, the Games offer five different competition events. In order to compete at the Games, athletes must be members of Triathlon BC prior to selection, and qualify based on the criteria listed for each zone.
Event Distances:
- Super Sprint Triathlon – 400m swim/ 10km bike/ 2.5km run
- Mixed Relay Event – (3x or 4x) 200 m swim / 2.5 km bike / 1 km run
- Duathlon – 1km run/ 7.5km bike/ 1km run
- F1 Triathlon – 200 m swim / 2.5 km bike / 1km run
- Aquathlon – 300m swim/1km run
Coaches
There will be one Head Coach and one Assistant Coach per zone. Zone teams that include both male and female athletes, must have a Coach and Assistant Coach of the opposite gender. Each zone is required to have a Head Coach.

In an effort to ensure equal participation and representation from all areas of the province, the BC Games has divided the province into eight Zones; Kootenays (Zone 1), Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2), Fraser Valley (Zone 3), Fraser River (Zone 4), Vancouver-Coastal (Zone 5), Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6), North West (Zone 7), North East (Zone 8).

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN THE BC GAMES?
The BC Summer Games are a unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. These Multi-sport Games are different from a single-sport competition and have additional distractions that a single-sport environment does not provide. These Games also help participants prepare for higher level multi-sport Games like Canada Summer Games. Triathlon events at the BC Summer Games are very similar to those at Canada Summer Games. Athletes are offered the chance to compete in a mixed relay, and draft legal environment.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO COMPETE IN TRIATHLON AT THE BC SUMMER GAMES?
Athletes competing at the 2026 BC summer games are between 14–15 (birth years 2011 and 2012)
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN TRIATHLON AT THE BC SUMMER GAMES?
The BC Summer Games registration fee is $175 per athlete. This registration fee covers the cost of travel to/from, and while at the Games, meals and accommodation, your competition, special events, and entertainment, including opening and closing ceremonies. Athletes who wish to participate in triathlon will also incur additional charges to cover costs associated with a custom BC Games racing suit and t-shirt.
CAN PARENTS COME TO WATCH ME COMPETE AT THE BC SUMMER GAMES?
All competitions are open to the public and are free of charge. Your friends and family are welcome to come and cheer you on and see you at your sport venue. Only Games participants are permitted access to the accommodation sites, food venues, Games transportation, and special events. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies are also open to the public and there is no admission fee; however, space may be limited and a ticketing process may be implemented.
